Well Being Leader Update

Hi to all our school community!

Where has the term gone…?!

This week we launched our yard student mentors and already the students, especially the younger ones, are seeking them out for any assistance they might need. The bright ‘Green Jackets’ certainly stand out!

I am working with some classes using "What’s the Buzz" social emotional learning program. The students are certainly enjoying the games that teach how to win and lose with grace, and to think about others’ feelings rather than simply their own.

The results from our Wellbeing Survey have shown encouraging levels of increased wellbeing in our student cohort, and several decreases among the low wellbeing categories. It encourages us to keep strengthening our behaviour expectations and our restorative approaches.

We have 10-15 students on track to graduate with Children’s University. If your child is involved, please remind them that it is not too late to accumulate those hours! Encourage them to come and see me if they need any prompts.

Our school gathered last week to show gratitude to our SSO’s in recognition of SSO Week. They all loved their thank you cards made by our Young Leaders on everyone’s behalf.

Young leaders are meeting each week and we are planning some recess time clubs to start soon. We are also looking at a fun schoolwide fundraiser in late Term 4. Stay tuned!

Leah, Dot and myself visited a neighbouring school last Friday to check out how they are going on their journey of 'Interoception' as a whole school initiative. Interoception has been called our sixth sense, and it all about learning to recognise and appropriately respond to the signals that our bodies give to us to help us regulate. It really affirmed and sharpened our focus as we go forward. Exciting things to come!
