Principal's Report

Dear Parent/Caregivers,

Thank you to everyone who attended the Acquaintance Night and Governing Council AGM. It was pleasing to see so many families take the opportunity to visit classrooms and meet your child’s teachers. At the AGM I had the opportunity to present our Annual Report and Site Learning Plan (SLP).

Governing Council Representatives

At our recent AGM, we accepted nominations and voted in our new Governing Council members.

I am pleased to announce the following people as our members for 2025.

New Members – Alex Yap, Alice Goldsworthy

Returning Members – Natasha Hansen, Rebecca Benfell, Phoebe Wallish, Tegan Forder, Tori Duncan, Amber Briggs, Sheree James

It is great to see some new faces and the passion that all members have for our school. If you have any questions regarding school issues, please feel free to approach any of our members.

Student Free Day

Last Friday, staff attended a training day to introduce the new SA Curriculum in mathematics. Le Fevre and Largs Bay staff both worked together with a common purpose. The focus of the day was to connect curriculum to dispositions in learning. Dispositions in learning relates to students being resilient learners, having a positive mindset, being flexible in thinking, problem solvers and being reflective, to name a few.

NAPLaN (Online)

This week students in Years 3 and 5 have begun their NAPLaN Online tests. So far we have completed both the writing and reading components, with Conventions of Language and Numeracy to follow. It is pleasing to see our students apply effort in doing their best. NAPLaN provides a small insight into the learning of our students. During Parent-Teacher interviews in week 9 you will have the opportunity to check-in with class teachers on the progress and learning of your child.  Please see the flyer on how to book an interview later in the newsletter.

Facililties

On Tuesday morning I had the pleasure of taking Susan Close, our local member of parliament, for a tour of the upgrade to building 3. Works are progressing well with the installation of walls, air-conditioning units as well as electrical work. The works will continue to progress with the anticipation of the rooms being available to move back in towards the end of June.
