Performing Arts News- Semester 1

It’s been an exciting start to the year in Performing Arts! Across all year levels, students have been exploring music, drama and dance through fun and hands-on activities. We have focused on building rhythm and teamwork skills using body percussion, clapping games, cup rhythms, ukulele, recorder, xylophones, drums and singing. In some classes, students have begun developing their drama skills through roleplay and movement activities, with lots of creative ideas and plenty of laughs along the way. It’s been great to see everyone getting involved and growing in confidence.

Outside the classroom, there’s been plenty happening too! Our new school choir is up and running for students in Years 4, 5 and 6, with performances at the Reconciliation Week assembly and a visit to our local kindy to sing with the little ones. Another highlight this term was our Year 6 students performing a bucket drumming routine at assembly—what a fantastic way to showcase their hard work and rhythm skills!

Instrumental music lessons are going strong, with students learning a range of instruments including flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and percussion. We will be holding a mid-year intake for percussion students, so please get in touch if your child is keen to start lessons. Some of our instrumental students have also joined the Hub Band, rehearsing with other local schools in preparation for a combined performance later this year under the Orb outside the Entertainment Centre—what an opportunity!

We’re really proud of all the creativity and effort students have shown this semester in Performing Arts!
