Dear Families,
Welcome back to the final term for 2021. The term planner looks really busy with plenty of exciting activities planned.
Room 3, 4 and 5 AFL MAX Camp
Next week students in rooms 3, 4 and 5 will attend the overnight AFL Max Camp. Students will start their camp at 4:30pm on Wednesday 3rd November and spend the night at AFL Max, followed by a full day of activities on Thursday 4th November. Pick up time is 2:45pm by parents.
Parents and Visitors on site
Parents, volunteers and visitors are welcome in schools and preschools providing COVID safe measures are followed.
All parents and visitors are required to COVID-Safe check in when entering buildings, and practise physical distancing from other adults.
It is recommended that parents and other visiting adults wear masks when entering school buildings. This includes volunteers. Masks are not required outdoors if adults can physical distance. This is consistent with community mask use requirements.
School Colour Fun Run
It was great to see the students and families support our Fun Run today.
We have raised over $20000. This is an amazing effort by our community. Special mention goes to Wayne B who raised $1823, Lachie B and Madi B who raised $835 each.
Thank you to each and every family who supported us with this fundraising event.
We expect the playground works to start shortly.
Families are still able to collect sponsorship until Friday 5th November. Prizes will be available for selection from the 5th November.
Footsteps
Our Footsteps Dance programme started on Wednesday in preparation for our “End of Year Event”. We anticipate that this event will be on the evening of Tuesday 30th November. We are in the initial stages of planning for this, given the current changes to COVID restrictions. Obviously a lot can change between now and then in this space but we are hopeful that a community event can be safely managed.
Staffing News
Welcome back Ms Fiona Prentice who is replacing Toni Zuanic in room 14. Congratulations to Toni on the birth of her son Zak. Both mother and baby are doing well.
Class Placements 2022
We are working on the assumption that we will have 13 classes next year, based on predicted enrolments of 267 students.
However, I need to point out that this could change as late as the first day back next year, based on new enrolments or students leaving the school. If you know that you will not be attending Le Fevre Peninsula Primary School in 2022, please let the Front Office know as soon as possible so that we can take this into consideration in our plans.
The placement process is a very complex and time consuming one. Our aim is to achieve the best possible mix of students in both straight and composite classes. Whilst we like to have children with friends where we can, it is also beneficial for children to mix with new groups of students from year to year.
Your child/ren’s class placement information will be sent home during the last week of term. While we do our best to have all teachers placed by this time, it is not always possible and while your child may know their room number, they may not necessarily know their teacher. I apologise in advance if this is the case.
Thank you to those families that have put any requests in writing.
Reception Transition Visits
Our new Receptions for 2022 will commence their first of three transition visits in week 5.
I would like to welcome them and their families to Le Fevre Peninsula Primary School. In total, there will be 32 children.
They will be in Rooms 9 and 10 for their transition visits as well as next year.
Special thanks must go to our Year 4 students who will be taking on a mentoring role with the new children.
Graduation
This year we have 107 Year 6 & 7 students graduating. From 2022, Year 7’s will be starting in high school. It will be an exciting time for all of our students who are graduating. The Year 6 Graduation evening will be held on Monday 6th December in the school gym from 7:30pm, after the students return from their dinner cruise. The Year 7 Graduation will be Tuesday 7th December in the school gym from 7:30pm, after the students return from their dinner cruise.
Due to COVID restrictions we will unfortunately be limiting guests to 2 guests per graduating student.
Further information will be sent out over the coming weeks.

Today is World Teacher's Day. On this day we celebrate and acknowledge the amazing efforts of teachers all around the world. Here at Le Fevre Peninsula Primary School we are so lucky to have such a wonderful group of hard working and dedicated teachers. Our teachers go above and beyond to support our students in many different ways. Today we had a special morning tea and at assembly presented our teachers with a portrait that our Young Leaders drew. As a school community we would like to thank them for their commitment to our students.

Deputy Principal
Last term in Reception we learnt about Australian Animals. In Science and HASS we researched where they lived and what they needed to survive. In writing, we wrote an Information Report on an Australian animal of choice and discovered how diverse they are. At the end of the unit, we visited the zoo and took part in an educator led session all about Australian animals. Using all our new learnings, we made dioramas of Animal habitats. We had so much fun!
On Wednesday 22nd of September (Week 10, Term 3) Room 19 and 22 went to AFL Max for an overnight camp. We all got there at 4.30pm and stayed the night and for the full day on Thursday.
We all had so much fun and learnt a lot of things.
FOOD
The food at AFL Max was very delicious. For dinner we had a very cheesy lasgna, with a buttered roll and a healthy salad on the side. We also got a juice box.
For breakfast we had the choice of Cocopops, Cornflakes or Muesli. We could also have yummy yoghurt and an orange juice.
For morning tea we had lots of fruit, including mandarins and apples and also some yoghurt.
For lunch we had a choice of rolls, wraps or sandwiches. They were filled with ceasar salad, teriyaki chicken, hotdogs, hamburgers and BLT’s. Connor managed to knock all the cups over and they tumbled down the stairs. We all loved the food and there was plenty so you were always allowed to come back for seconds, thirds and fourths.
Vera, Room 22
OBSTACLE COURSE
At AFL Max there is an inflatable obstacle course that was designed by Rory Sloan. First you had to climb up the inflated hill and down the other side. You then go through some holes, dodge some inflatable poles and climb a ladder. Lastly you get to slide down the slide. On the second inflatable there were 2 poles that you had to jump over or under. As time goes on the poles start to speed up.
TOWER OBSTACLE COURSE
There was a big tower that you had to work your way up. There were rubber straps that you had to squeeze between and when you got to the top you could slide down the red or blue slides. Lots of people had races to the top but sometimes it was hard as people were lounging around and were in your way. It was heaps of fun especially when you could use this as a short cut to the eating area.
Maryah and Ruby, Room 22
AERIAL AREA
The Aerial area was everyones favourite because we could throw balls at our friends. We also loved flipping into the big air bag. It was heaps of fun and every time we had freetime everyone would race to play dodge ball or do some flipping. Sometimes Ms Leaney would call out names in dodge ball and we would all go after them. Everyone took turns and had so much fun.
Oscar and Shakiah
INTERACTIVE ZONE
The Interactive Zone at AFL Max was lots of fun. They had heaps of projectors they shone on the walls and you could choose lots of games to play. The first game we played was like space invaders and you had to throw the ball at the wall to score points. Then we played Mozzart which was a game where you had to move the mouse along a maze so that he could eat the cheese. The interactive zone was great fun as it involved everyone working together as a team to win the games.
MOVIE NIGHT
For Movie night we watched the film Mighty Ducks on the HUGE screen. It was a good movie. We also got a box of treats which included a bag of popcorn, a donut and a handful of lollies. Throughout the movie everyone was eating and trading lollies. We all got so energetic that the girls managed to convince the AFL Max worker to open up the aerial area. We all went crazy on the trampolines until 10pm, then it was time for bed.
Connor, Room 22
SKILLS AREA
In the skills area we were allowed to play football. They had holes in the wall so you could kick the ball in there and score points. Ms Searle, Mr Fisher, Mr Ramsey and and Mr Staker were always found in this area kicking balls. On the nets they also had white stripes to make them look like footy goals. We all thought this area was lots of fun.
Ollie and Jayden, Room 22
TEAMWORK TASK
In the Teamwork task we were put into groups of 5. We joined hands and were then given a hoop. We had a race to see how fast we could move the hoop around our group without breaking the chain. They also made us have a go at this task with our eyes closed and then with 2 hoops. This made it a lot harder. For the next task we had rubber bands around our ankles and we had to run with our group to the wall and back. This was difficult with such a big group. The last task was to build a football tower. You used the footballs to build the tallest tower you could. You were also allowed to try and knock other groups towers down. This was lots of fun.
Keeley and Matilda
BLINDFOLD TASK
We were faced with the blindfold challenge. This challenge required you to lead your blindfolded partner around some randomly placed blocks and rubber chickens. You could only lead them by telling them left or right forward or back. This was quite hard but surprisingly lots of people were successful.
Juliet
ROCK CLIMBING
On our second day one of our challenges was rock climbing. We were taught how to correctly put on our harness and how to safely come off the walls. On some of the very tall walls there were timers and buttons to press when you got to the top. Not all of us made it to the top but some did including: Jayden, Lyla, Clay, Logan and Lareeka. There were a few falls and injuries but we all had heaps of fun and conquered our fear of heights.
Ella and Darcy, Room 22
Congratulations to all of our students involved in the 2021 Premiers Reading Challenge. A special mention to the following students who received their Hall of Fame Certificates.
8 Years - Emily, Joel, Noah, Adam, Madison, Eve, Ante, Tyreece and Iris.
9 Years - Oscar and Payton.
On Tuesday afternoon Rooms 9 and 22 took part in exploring a new product being created from a member of our school community with their buddies.
‘Jig Jag’ blocks are used for children to play with and let their imagination run wild, making castles, cubby houses and lots more with the ability to pack it down and start building all over again. All the students had a fun afternoon with lots of cooperation and team work.
Sophia - I like playing with the pieces. I built a chair.
Matthew N - I built a giant castle to go inside.
Felicity - I liked building a crown.
Paxton - I tried to make a table and it was easy to build with.
Ricky & Thomas - We built a hamster wheel with the small pieces and then made a large model of the hamster wheel.
Angas- Everyone had unique designs so it was a good activity for the imagination
Ella - Everyone had the ability to create something unique.
Ms Leaney - I liked watching all the students work together with great coordination skills. They needed to modify their designs to make something new.
Room 14 have been investigating measurement in mathematics. We have been looking at things that are longer and shorter. We have measured using informal units. We have measured objects in our classroom, and we have compared the length of two or more objects.
We also made pathways with different materials and discussed that when we are measuring something we need to use the same unit.
On Thursday 21st of October, Ms McKay and Mr Taylors class had a lot of fun at the beach as a reward trip for our good behaviour. We walked down Semaphore road and when we first got there we got to eat our recess and play on the playground and use sports equipment. After that we went to the beach to do a sandcastle competition. Everybody got 45 minutes to build a good castle or whatever they wanted. At the end the teachers and helpers got to vote whose was the best sand build. At the end they agreed that Kenji, Payton and Joel’s build was the best. They made a big crocodile and a small crocodile swimming around each other. Max, Eve and Serina’s build came second place. After that we had a nice hot chips lunch and a refreshing soft drink with our friends while we stayed under the warm sun. After that we went back and everybody played their own games for an hour. People played soccer, basketball, and many other games. After an hour Ms McKay brought a couple of people down to the beach while the rest stayed back and there were dolphins around the beach that people spotted. Some people went knee deep in the water with shorts on, while Eve got her pants soaking wet. At the end we walked back to school exhausted and all wanting to get back home.
On Monday week 3, Room 18 hosted a bake sale. All the money raised is going towards the year 6/7 graduation. There were many delicious treats including cakes, brownies, cookie dough, honey crackles, chocolate crackles and so much more. All year levels and even a few teachers bought something delicious from our stall. Room 18 had a week to organise the whole bake sale. We started by brainstorming ideas and then we designed posters to put around the school. The best part was making the goodies that we were going to sell. Miss McKay brought along her speaker and had music playing while we were serving customers. Most of our baked treats sold out in just a few minutes. We were very pleased that everyone loved our food. Even if other people didn’t have any money to spend, they would still come over and say how good it looked. The whole thing was a massive success and we wish to do something similar in the future. We raised $273.60 in total and would like to thank everyone who was able to take part. Your support is greatly appreciated.
