Dear Families,
Welcome back to the final term for 2022. The term planner looks really busy with plenty of exciting activities planned.
Year 3 & 4 AFL MAX Camp
What a great way to finish term 3 for our year 3 & 4 students. Everyone had a great time and reports back from both teachers and camp staff indicated everyone displayed our school values throughout the 2 days. It’s always great when we get such great feedback about our wonderful students.
Staffing
Unfortunately Miss Leah has been quite unwell this term. She will continue to take some leave until she is fit and healthy and back to her normal industrious self. In the meantime a variety of staff will be released to support leadership.
Facilities Upgrade
On Tuesday I met with DfE facilities to begin planning for our $1.5M upgrade of buildings as pledged by the current State Government.
This is an exciting time for our school and we look forward to seeing what the future holds.
Footsteps
Our Footsteps Dance programme started on Wednesday in preparation for our “End of Year Event”. The event will be on the evening of Tuesday 6th December. We anticipate having a sausage sizzle and raffle available.
Class Placements 2023
We are working on the assumption that we will have 12 classes next year, based on predicted enrolments of 246 students.
However, I need to point out that this could change as late as the first day back next year, based on new enrolments or students leaving the school.
The placement process is a very complex and time consuming one. Our aim is to achieve the best possible mix of students in both straight and composite classes. Whilst we like to have children with friends where we can, it is also beneficial for children to mix with new groups of students from year to year.
Your child/ren’s class placement information will be sent home during the last week of term. While we do our best to have all teachers placed by this time, it is not always possible and while your child may know their room number, they may not necessarily know their teacher. I apologise in advance if this is the case.
Thank you to those families that have put any requests in writing.
Reception Transition Visits
Our new Receptions for 2022 will commence their first of three transition visits next week.
I would like to welcome them and their families to LeFevre Peninsula Primary School. In total, there will be 31 children.
They will be in Rooms 9 and 10 for their transition visits as well as next year.
Special thanks must go to our Year 4 students who will be taking on a mentoring role with the new children.
Year 6 Graduation
This year we have 40 Year 6 students graduating. The Year 6 Graduation evening will be held on Tuesday 13th December in the school hall from 7:30pm, after the students return from their lake dinner cruise. Graduation student will be able to invite 4 guests.
Further information and invites will be sent out over the coming weeks.
SAPSASA Cricket
Congratulations to Angus and Jayden who recently came 2nd in the SAPSASA Cricket carnival.
All the best,
Bob
On Monday Rooms 8, 10 and 11 went to Starplex Theatre to watch the Pevan and Sarah concert. We had a long drive to Gawler on the bus. We had a great time singing and dancing along to all the songs we know and love!
Le Fevre High School Excursion
On Thursday the 29th of September, Ella, Juliet, Alice, Clay, Emily, Ava, Cailin and Levi from Room 20 & 21 went to Le Fevre High School for a maths convention. We started off with warm up and tried to find the hidden loop of numbers on our pages. For our first task we learnt a new game called Nimb. After some time of trying new strategies, we were taught the trick that you must go first to guarantee a win. Our second task was algebra problems and we all worked as a group to figure out the answers and the formula, so it was a lot easier to figure out the rest of the problems. Our final task of the day was called the Locker Problem which involved prime numbers. It was a great afternoon and we learnt lots.
