Dear Families,
It was great to see Leah Koen back at school this week. Leah will gradually return to full time work over the next few weeks. She is so excited to be back and be part of our end of year activities. Special thanks to Bronte and Fiona Prentice who have been amazing support throughout the term in Leah’s absence.
It has been a busy few weeks. The year 6's attended their annual Aquatics Day at West Lakes, we celebrated PE week with a staff vs students netball game, held a badminton tournament and all of our students have been busy learning their routines for the 'End of Year Concert'.
Today we hosted members of the Chinner Family, Rotary and Port Adelaide Historical Society to unveil a seat dedicated in honour of Errol Chinner, past Principal, local author and active community member. Year 2 students have been studying the history of Le Fevre Peninsula Primary School and hosted the ceremony and unveiling. Well done to Miss Prentice, Miss Zuanic and the Year 2 students.
Remembrance Day
On the 11th of November we acknowledged the end of WW1 with a school Remembrance Day ceremony. Bronte also took 3 students to the Largs Bay RSL to be part of their ceremony and awards presentations. Thank you to the students who coordinated the service at school.
Class Placements 2023
We are now completing our class placement process and are finalising staffing for 2023.
It may take several weeks until the staffing side of things is finalised but we hope to be able to send out all this information in the last week of school.
Reception Transition Visits
In weeks 4, 5 and 6 we welcomed our 2023 Reception students for transition. The students had so much fun meeting new friends and exploring their future classrooms. Each morning they were greeted by their year 4 buddies who helped them settle into school. We made kindness superheroes, did craft with our names and talked about what exciting things there are to look forward to in Reception! We can’t wait to welcome all of our new students next year!

Remembrance Day at Largs Bay RSL
As part of a new initiative by the Largs Bay RSL, three of our year 6 students, Alice, Ava and Lily-Rose, were asked to submit a reflective project on what the ‘Spirit of Anzac’ meant to them and their peers. All three submissions were of a wonderful quality and it was hard to pick between them. Lily-Rose was awarded the Voucher from Officeworks, while Alice and Ava received commendations and a bag full of stationery each. Part of the process was for them to attend the Memorial Service and Alice flanked by Ava and Lily-Rose, were given the honour of laying a wreath from our school community. Then the three students, Miss Jess and I were invited for a great BBQ lunch and meaningful conversations. It was a very special day and the three students did our school community proud by their contributions and presence.
Well Done Ladies!

As part of our learning about ‘How to care for the environment’ and how we can all help our planet through the 3R’s: Recycling, Reducing and Reusing, we re-used old containers and made gorgeous pot plant holders.
Mrs Toogood got some help from some of our families and collected old drink containers that would normally go into the recycling bin. Each container was cut, painted, decorated and finally the students helped to plant a succulent. These are the fabulous creations from Room 8, 10 and 11.
Children's University Graduation
After a year of focus and hard work, 17 of our students were able to celebrate their achievements at Bonython Hall, at the University of Adelaide. Gary Ramsey and myself accompanied them and their families to the graduation ceremony on Tuesday the 15th of November. It was a wonderful night as our students from years 4, 5 & 6 were presented on stage with their awards. Negotiating the Covid landscape year to achieve their learning passport hours was not an easy task, and so their efforts are even more memorable
As always our students were a wonderful cohort and clearly set an example of how to conduct oneself amongst hundreds of other students from all over Adelaide. The Children’s University Program just grows from strength to strength each year and creates a pathway of future educational possibilities for every student that is involved. Please enjoy the photos of our successful graduates.

It was a fun night full of laughter and (for the first time) dancing!
Congratulations to our wonderful students. Thank you for representing your school and families with respect to all at the venue.
Thank you to Ms. Biar for helping with supervision.
Enjoy your new schools, all the best. Bu Karen
On Thursday the 10th of November our Year 6 students attended the Water Safety Program at West Lakes. The day started BY learning how to be safe in and around water before getting into lots of fun activities including, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and surfing. It was a fabulous day for all involved!
On Monday the 14th of November our year 6 students held a sausage sizzle to raise funds for their upcoming graduation. They had great success raising approximately $400. Congratulations to all involved!
Autism Inclusion Teachers are a new, nation-leading initiative which aims to build understanding and knowledge to support autistic children and young people.
Every public primary school in South Australia will appoint an Autism Inclusion Teacher. Our Autism Inclusion Teacher will take on the role (1 day per week / 1 day per fortnight) from Term 1 2023. We are excited to annouce that Fiona Prentice has sucessfully won this role.
It is anticipated that Autism Inclusion Teachers will first build their own teaching expertise, knowledge and understanding of autism through engaging in formal learning offerings and participation in the Autism Inclusion Teacher networks. To improve knowledge and practice across the school, Autism Inclusion Teachers will then be encouraged to share their learnings and resources with their colleagues to utilise in teaching autistic children and young people in their own classes.
