What an amazing start to the year we have had! A special welcome to our new students, especially our new reception students who have all settled in so quickly. They have been amazing in their ability to learn new routines and make new friends in their first week of school.
We hope that your child has had a positive start to the new school year. The year 6 students have moved into their final year of primary school. We encourage them to make the most of their opportunities and enjoy the year.
School Upgrade
Last year, with the support of the current government, LPPS was identified as receiving $1.5 million to upgrade some of our outdated learning spaces. This project is now moving forward and I will be meeting with architects and consultants next week to start the process. We look forward to seeing what we can achieve.
Curriculum Update
Our current Site Improvement Plan has been updated with the following goals
- Increase student achievement in Numeracy
- Increase student achievement in Reading
Over the past 2 years, we have continued to implement strategies and programmes that have specifically targeted the improvement in writing and reading. Whilst we will continue to implement these programmes, this year we will have a greater focus on improving numeracy for our students.
Curriculum consultants will be working with our staff to implement quality learning programmes and to support students to gain a deeper understanding of number. This will become the focus of our upcoming student free day on Monday 27th February.
Staff T and D – Restorative Practices
In week 0 all staff attended a full day of training in Restorative Practices.
The Restorative Practice workshop provided staff with a better understanding of processes to help individuals repair, build and maintain strong, healthy relationships.
Restorative Practice is a framework that offers proven strategies for strengthening and repairing relationships. These proactive, responsive strategies provide the means to develop, repair and maintain healthy relationships that are the foundation of healthy communities. Restorative Practice training provided the skills required to manage and address conflict when it arises and focuses on the needs of all those who are impacted. This practice actively helps addresses antisocial behaviour and repairs and restores relationships at all levels.

Mobile Phone Policy
The Le Fevre Peninsula Primary School mobile phone policy requires students to keep their personal devices, including mobile phones, off and away between the start and end of each school day and while attending authorised school activities off-site.
The policy outlines the circumstances where students may be given an exemption to use their personal device during the school day for a specific, agreed purpose.
For the purposes of this policy and the linked supporting resources, personal devices include mobile phones and any other digital devices with the capability of connecting to telecommunication and/or internet networks, such as smartwatches.
We appreciate your support in following this policy.
Kind regards,
Bob
