Dear Parent/Caregivers,
Book Week
This week we celebrated Book Week with a parade of characters from our favourite books. It was great to see so many of our children involved, with a great deal of effort going into the costumes by parents and families. We also welcomed the Kindy to our parade, who were so excited to see so many book characters. We thank you all for this tremendous effort.
It was also fantastic to see so many staff involved who went above and beyond with their costumes, A big thank you to the Book Week committee who decorated the gym and organised the activities throughout the week. Check out the photos below!!!!
Thank you to everyone who supported our Scholastic Book Fair. We raised approximately $600 to put towards purchasing more books for our resource centre. It’s great to see so many in our community valuing reading. Miss Leah loved using the EFTPOS machine once again.
Don’t forget Scholastic Book Club orders can also be made online.
How exciting was it to have a magician perform to our school on Tuesday. Daniel Daminato performed a number of book inspired magic tricks. Daniel mesmerised the students with magic that involved Rubik’s Cubes, card tricks, making balloon dogs disappear and other mysterious tricks. Hopefully some of the students had the opportunity to show you a trick or two themselves.
School Disco
A special thank you to the Parent Group, Governing Council and staff who organised and supervised our recent school disco. It was a great night for all, with the students having a fabulous time. A guest appearance from the fire brigade at the end (thanks to the smoke machine) made the night memorable.
SSO Week
This week we also had the opportunity to thank our wonderful SSO’s who help keep our school running smoothly and support our students with their learning. On Monday staff provided a hot potato lunch to celebrate the week. (It also happened to be World Potato Day). Thanks to all of the staff who contributed. Students were able to acknowledge the SSO’s by making cards for each of them and presented them at the assembly on Friday.
Sports Update
Amanda Nelson and the sports committee have been busily preparing a programme for our upcoming Sports Day on Friday 20th September. Students are able to pre-order a sausage sizzle for the day. Notes were sent home this week. Vegetarian sausages can also be ordered through the canteen or on QKR. Sports Day captains will be preparing their chants and warm up routines ready for the big day.

On Friday the 9th of August the MALPA students went on an excursion to Calvary North Adelaide Hospital. The students had the opportunity to learn through different stations run by some of the nurses. The students were able to put scrubs on like a surgeon, take their blood pressure, change a nappy and wrap the baby, learn CPR and learn about how germs stay on our hands if we don’t wash them properly.
After this the students met Dr Reiger and were taken into an operating theatre. With the guidance of Dr Reiger and staff, the students were able to explore the different tools used in the operating theatre.
The students then finished their day with a yummy lunch prepared by the hospital kitchen staff.
The students had an absolute blast learning from these knowledgeable doctors and nurses. Thank you for having us Calvary North Adelaide Hospital.
Le Fevre Peninsula Primary School is supporting Indigenous Literacy Day on Wednesday 4th September.
We are holding a Book Drive and a Bake Sale.
Room 2 will be collecting books in new or good condition.
LPPS will also be donating books surplus to our requirements.
This term in both Year 1 classes we have been learning about living things and their features. We have started growing our own watercress seeds and have been busy watering and tracking the growth each week by recording in our plant journal.
We have learnt that all living things need food, water, air and shelter. We have also learnt about mini beasts and the different habitats of particular animals and creatures. We have been having lots of fun with Miss M.
Room 14 were very lucky to have Miss Brewer join us in Week 2 and 3 of this term. Miss Brewer is an exchange teacher from Calgary in Canada. We had such a great time playing games and teaching Miss Brewer about Australian words and food. We made fairy bread on her last day with us.
Selecting a Secondary School Survey
We are keen to know what you think. We believe public education is for every child and young person in every community across our state. We want to work in partnership with our families and communities to nurture, develop and empower all children and young people with the knowledge, skills and capabilities they need to become fulfilled individuals, active, compassionate citizens and lifelong learners.
To help us, we would like to gather some information from families of primary aged learners about what influences their decisions when selecting a secondary school for their child.
Our world is constantly changing and the future we are educating our children for will be vastly different from today, our schools need to continually adapt too.
The information gathered in this survey will help guide secondary schools within the western area to adapt in ways that are responsive to the needs of the community.
