Dear Families,
We have had a busy few weeks celebrating SSO Week and Book Week, and we still have Sports Day and our Disco to look forward to. Term 3 is always a busy term with lots of fun events to look out for.
I would like to thank Fiona Prentice, who has stepped into the Acting Deputy role for the past 4 weeks for her support and hard work in that time. I would also like to thank Alana and Shelley who taught in room 16 throughout these 4 weeks, I know the students have loved their time with you.
SSO Week
Last week we acknowledged and celebrated our fabulous SSOs. We are so lucky to have such an amazing group of people who support our students, families and teachers. Whilst they work in a variety of different roles, each bring their own unique and special talents. We celebrated with a delicious morning tea and our students showcased their talents by drawing portraits of them. THANK YOU so much for all of your hard work and dedication, it is much appreciated.
Book Week
Last week we also celebrated Book Week, with lots of fun activities throughout the week. Tuesday morning was our magnificent Book Parade where we were joined by so many of our families and a special visit from the kindy. A big thank you to our Book Week Committee who have been planning things for months, and to all of our teachers for joining in the fun. Every year I am amazed at the efforts of our staff, students and families who embrace the fun and dress to impress! On Friday we had a Book Week Performance for our Reception – Year 3 students, and another for our Year 4-6 students. It was so good to see our students enjoying a live performance and finishing off the week on a high.
Our students also enjoyed lunchtime activities, a Scavenger Hunt and the Book Fair. Thank you to our families who supported this. We managed to sell over $2000 worth of stock, which brought in $600 of new books for our library.
Parent Group
This term the Parent Group have been busy planning a couple of upcoming events. Next week on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th September is our annual Father’s Day stall where we have sourced some amazing gifts for our dad, pop and grandpa’s. Gifts range from $2 - $12 each. At the stall we will also be selling sports day merchandise for our Sports Day in week 8. We have fluffy head bands, sweat bands and pom poms for $5 each in our team colours of RED, YELLOW and BLUE. We have limited stock available in some colours. (Team colours will be sent home with students in the coming days).
We are also excited about our upcoming DISCO on Thursday 25th September. Tickets will go on sale in week 8 for $10 each at the Front Office. The price includes entry, small packet of chips and fruitbox. Additional items such as glow sticks and lolly bags will also be available for purchase on the night. This is a big fundraiser for the school, so we hope you will get behind us and support it.
Receptions in 2026
Letters of offer have already gone out to families of students who are starting school in 2026. If you have a child or know of someone who is interested in coming to Le Fevre PS next year, please come to the school and complete a Registration of Interest form in the Front Office as soon as possible.
A reminder that we have our School Closure Day on Monday 1st September. School will resume on Tuesday 2nd September.
Kind regards,
Leah
In Room 9, our Science lessons have been all about living things. As part of our unit, we are growing our very own cress plants. We have been learning about the basic needs of all living things—water, food, air and shelter. The class has really enjoyed observing their plants and recording their growth each week in their plant journals. We have also explored the world of mini beasts and discovered fascinating facts about silkworms. Did you know that silkworms aren’t actually worms? They are the larval stage of the silk moth!
