Dear Parents and Caregivers,
What an amazing Sports Day last week.
Congratulations to the Yellow team on winning our Sports Day.
Thank you to all of the team captains who did an amazing job organising the team chants and the warm up routines. I was impressed with their organisation and enthusiasm.
The students were fantastic all day, demonstrating teamwork, individual excellence and being good sports.
Thanks to Miss Amanda, Miss Leah and the Sports day committee who coordinated the event. Thanks to the teachers and SSO’s who supervised and made the day so successful.
Miss Leah and the Parent group added a splash of colour to the day by selling sports team coloured accessories and the year 6’s managed a successful bake sale.
Final scores: Blue 1036 points, Red 1054 points and the winning team, Yellow on 1134 points
Building Upgrade
It is great to see the upgrade to building 3 has now been mostly completed. We are waiting on the certificate to use the lift and some minor defects are to be fixed.
Thank you to everyone who has been so accommodating throughout the last 10 months, especially the students and staff who have worked in different locations throughout the school.
We are so happy with the outcome. We are expecting that there will be an official opening in the near future.
2026 Classes
At the moment, we are beginning to look at numbers of children for 2026 so that we can begin the class placement process. It would help our planning if you know of any changes for next year (eg if you are moving etc. and not planning on returning to Le Fevre Peninsula Primary School) if you could let the front office know as soon as possible.
Also, if you know of any families considering enrolling at Le Fevre Peninsula Primary School for next year, could you please let them know to contact us at their earliest convenience.
Finally, if you have any specific requests for the placement of your child, (friendships etc) please put them in writing to me no later than Friday 17th October (Term 4, Week 1) using the note which was recently sent home with students or you can email me directly bob.bowden832@schools.sa.edu.au.
Please note that while requests are taken into consideration, there are no guarantees that they can be acted upon.
Thank you for your support.
Playgrounds
We love the fact that our playgrounds are used by the public after school hours. It is however important to know that the playground behind the gym is out of bounds before school. We are on duty from 8:30am in the yard but that does not extend to the playground. Any student who uses the playground after school should also be supervised by their own parents/caregivers.
Students waiting to be picked up should have a designated area arranged by family to meet in the school yard.
Sports News
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all those children that have been involved in weekend sports finals. It is a rare opportunity that we get to play in finals and is something they will remember for a long time.
Congratulations to Khloe and Jessica who have been selected in the Port SAPSASA Girls Football team who will participate in the State Championships 27th – 29th October.
Last Day of Term
With the end of term rapidly approaching, a reminder that we finish at 2.00pm on Friday 26th September.
Term 4 will resume on Monday 13th October.
Kind Regards
Bob
As Chair of the Governing Council, I am delighted to share some exciting news with our school community. At our most recent Governing Council meeting on 8 September, we were joined by our Education Director, Ros Maio, to discuss the Principal renewal process. Following this process, the Department for Education and the Governing Council have offered Bob Bowden a further 10-year tenure as our Principal. We are thrilled to announce that Bob has accepted this offer! On behalf of the Governing Council, I would like to extend our warm congratulations to Bob. We look forward to continuing to work together and are excited about what the coming years will bring for our school community under his leadership.

During term 2 and 3 we have had over 40 students represent our school in the North West Junior Soccer Association (NWJSA). This year we registered 5 teams ranging from Under 6s through to Under 11s. We were very lucky to have 5 parents and grandparents put up their hand to take on a coaching role, as without them, none of this would have happened. It has been such a big commitment from our coaches, having to run weekly trainings, communicate information to families and then show up every Saturday, rain, hail or shine, to lead the teams on game day. On behalf of the students, families and wider school community, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to Carmel, Paul, Angela, Brendan and Phoebe for all of their hard work and dedication throughout the season. At different times throughout the season, all of the coaches have chatted to me about how far the students have come with their skill level and knowledge of the game.
I also want to share how proud I was to read the NWJSA ‘Season Wrap Up’ document that shared highlights of the season. The Association give a ‘Ron Baker Fair Play Award’ that recognises the behaviour and values of a school, that align with the NWJSA core values of fun, participation, teamwork and sportsmanship. Referees award points to teams after each game based on their observations. In the ‘Season Wrap Up’ it stated that Le Fevre PS came 2nd overall in this area. This is something that our coaches and students should be very proud of – well done!

Our boys' basketball team participated in the minor rounds of the Basketball Statewide Schools competition this term, showcasing an incredible display of sportsmanship and teamwork. The boys won every game and emerged victorious in the grand final.
He demonstrated exceptional teamwork and leadership by effectively passing, scoring, applying defensive pressure, and motivating the team with his enthusiasm. He consistently showcased strong communication skills and a positive attitude, uplifting and inspiring his teammates. Kase’s ability to help the team regain composure during challenging moments and his constant encouragement made him a reliable and supportive team player.
He exhibited outstanding defence and leadership, with excellent game awareness and tireless effort to get back in defence. Dylan's determination and perseverance were on full display as he gave his best in every moment. His exceptional scoring ability, impressive skill set, and relentless encouragement highlighted his crucial role as an inspiring and dependable team player.
Congratulations to Team Yellow! What a fantastic effort from all our students and staff during this year’s Sports Day! Despite the rain, our captains emerged as phenomenal role models, leading their teams with chants, the health hustle, and unwavering energy. Well done to everyone for their enthusiasm and school spirit!
A heartfelt thank you to all our staff, students, and community members who have contributed to making Term 3 such a success. Your hard work, energy, and commitment to fostering a vibrant sports culture at our school are deeply appreciated.

In Week 7, the Year 3 students from Rooms 3 and 4 had the exciting opportunity to spend a night away at AFL MAX. Joined by Kate, Peter, Jeanette and Bayden, the students were guided by the fantastic AFL MAX coaches who kept the camp fun, active and inspiring.
The camp was designed to encourage healthy lifestyles through four “quarters” of activities. In Healthy Body, students tackled fitness challenges that got everyone moving and smiling. Healthy Food gave them the chance to explore nutritious eating in creative and problem-solving ways. Healthy Team saw the children building connections through games and competitions, while Healthy Mind introduced calming strategies such as Box Breathing to help regulate emotions.
Of course, there was also plenty of time for fun on the trampolines, ninja warrior course, inflatable zones, and footy kicks. The highlight of the evening was a screening of Wall-E after a shared dinner, before everyone settled in on their sleeping mats for a night together.
After a healthy breakfast the following morning, the group finished their final activities before returning to school with tired bodies, happy faces, and lots of stories to share. The camp was a wonderful mix of learning, teamwork, and adventure, and will no doubt be remembered as a highlight of the year.
Reception Class Adventures with Jeff the Police Dog!
This term in Reception has been full of excitement and imagination – all thanks to our very special class friend, Jeff the Toy Police Dog! We were lucky enough to receive Jeff as a gift from Policeman Rhys after our excursion to the Road Safety Centre last term.
Every weekend, one lucky child has the chance to take Jeff home for a mini adventure. From family outings to cosy nights in, Jeff has been everywhere! He’s been out to dinner, joined in with school soccer, helped with shopping, met pets, and even snuggled up to watch a movie or two. Wherever he goes, Jeff always manages to find some fun – and lots of cuddles!
The children have been fantastic at documenting Jeff’s weekends. With the help of their families, they’ve taken some brilliant photos and written about their time with Jeff. These special memories are all added to our Jeff’s Room 10 Adventures Journal, which is growing fuller each week!
Not only is this a lovely way to share time with Jeff, but it’s also helped our little learners build confidence in their speaking and writing. Every Monday, we enjoy hearing about Jeff’s latest adventures, and the children love seeing their photos and writing proudly displayed.
A big thank you to all the families who have helped make Jeff’s weekends so much fun!. We can't wait to see where he ends up next term!
Keep wagging, Jeff!

In HASS the Year 2 students have been learning about significant places in their local area. On Tuesday the 9th of September Rooms 15, 16, 20 and 21 went on an excursion to Yitpi Yartapuultiku. We had a guided tour by Susan Dixon and learnt about the planning and meaning of the different areas of the centre.
On Thursday of Week 8, our choir performed at Semaphore Residential Care Centre. They sang beautifully and entertained the residents — including one who is a former Le Fevre Peninsula Primary School student! Abbey, Nikita, Kase and Addy each sang a solo as part of How Far I’ll Go, and Nate performed a trombone solo of Snappy Rag. The residents thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Afterwards, the choir celebrated with hot chips as a well-earned reward!
